Vizually Speaking

Here it is, the focus of my site. For me, this is what it is all about. I am not that great with words but I guess I got it half right because I am good with a pen and pencil. I am not that good at speeches but they say a picture is worth a thousand words. This is where I speak vizually.

Drawing

At this area of my site you may view several of my drawings. My favorite subjects are hands, faces, and figures. Drawing is my passion. I consider it my specialty and take great pleasure in perfecting my skills whenever possible.

Design

I love technology but before there were computers I might have made my living as a fine artist or an illustrator. Fortunately today I make my living as a graphic designer. I love this because, although taking my time with drawing is a passion of mine, quickly working with vivid images is very fun and allows me to visually play around with pictures from everyday life. Also, I like the practicality of being able to create something functional. Here you can see a few examples of my work as a graphic designer in the past few years.

Photography

For me photography is one of those things that just happens. I am not really certain how professional photographers think about the scenes they capture. For me, it just happens. What I mean is, life happens and I just take pictures of it. Of course I try to use my knowledge of lighting, positioning, and other things like the "rule of thirds" to enhance the "inherent drama," as Leo Burnett would say. But that takes something interesting to really make the picture for me. Maybe just the smallest thing you can't put your finger on or maybe something so grand. To me those are the things that just happen.
